I’ve been deep-diving
Swimming where there is no light
Orbs of white drifting by
Creatures that have learned how to survive
In such depths
Under fathoms of pressure that would crush
The unshielded
And yet shards of sunlight filter and illuminate,
Layers turn grey and then soft green
Haggard ghosts caught
Their ribbed skin and bulbous eyes
Once wondrous
rendered pointless.
