“A word after a word after a word is power” – Margaret Atwood
findingthewords has some central convictions…in brief they go something like this…that words joined together in particular ways are powerful because they are able to point towards something true; they create or uncover meaning.. They can not only articulate our own experience – but by those same words, others can see their own experience illuminated, clarified. Words are used to explore, to wonder, and to celebrate. It is also about the possibility that ‘true words’ can heal, liberate and bring about profound change – either in ourselves or in others.
My hope in all this is that in sharing my own words, organised in these particular ways, that they might somehow resonate with others and provoke this sort of stuff. Even when that change is deeply painful, those same words that provoke it are ready to catch us.
findingthewords is dedicated to all those whose words have arrived at just the right time, or have been able to sit in the Great Silence – in pubs, in monasteries, on sea cliffs, in woodlands, in cafes, garden sheds – until the words found me. I trust that you know who you are.
Oh, and there is also some music.
Do get in touch if you like. Always up for a conversation, collaboration or just a cocktail or two….
