The future reaches us
Beneath a waterfall of unburied light
It’s wetness stings
Draws an astringent tear
Born from the slow carve and undisturbed years
A verdant, sheltered stillness grows here
Sheltered by awe itself
And the dancing eyes of seasons
We meet one another
With hands that are gifts
Unsteady with delight
Holding paper cups
Catching mist and spray
Which of us, we wonder
Dare peel off tired clothes
Rush in with head or foot
Withstand the thunderous centre
And watch the slow accumulation of years
Lost in that splintering cascade
